The Black Keys

One of my new favorite bands right now is the Black Keys. I have just recently heard some of there music and just cant get enough for reasons that you to will find out for yourself. They provide a great beat and rythme with there music. The best way that I can describe their music would be a mix between todays Alternative music and southern Jazz music. Enjoy and I hope you like them as much as I have!

Getting Ready For Finals

The wonderful time of year has again joined us, Finals week will soon be upon us and the caffeine budget will be exceeded. This is the time when all college students, like myself, spend all day writing papers and finishing projects and all night studying for the next big final exam. They always try to associate school with your future professional life, but I have yet to be put into a situation within my career that allows for me to stress out for the next two weeks and to work unpaid late into the night for an assignment that I will not remember the answers for in a week. I do not see the point, but I suppose that there has to be a measuring point for grading purposes, but does it always have to come at the end of the semester. The end should be for celebration of getting out of school for a few weeks before having to do it all over again. This painting that I found online sums it up nicely.

Welcome back whinners

Just got word on this Saturday afternoon that the NBA has finally reached an agreement and games will start around Christmas. I would like to take a moment and express my feelings on this whole situation. Now I understand that in our current society, athletes are looked at as superheroes among men and some feel that they deserve to be paid what they are being paid because of the entertainment that they provide, but in such an economic time as the one we are in, where so many people are struggling to make it, to have these millionaires whine and complain about not receiving a bonus or more money going into the future. How does that make these players look to the rest of us, I can honestly say that I am finding it hard to support the NBA. I am not saying I wont watch the games, but maybe not as frequently.
So welcome back NBA may you get all the money you all wanted while the rest of us struggle through the hard times, but by all means make sure we know how hard you all have it.

I am grateful for the set of skills that I have developed over the years that allows me to work the non ordinary job of TV. I am grateful for my family that has supported me through the rough choices made to finally get us to such a wonderful place now. Truly on this thanksgiving I am grateful for alot because slot has been given to me, may the rest of the holidays be this good.

Monday night

Just last night I was able to prepare a great dad meal and watch some monday night football, all though my daughter was not interested in the game, she was excited about the potatoes. I made the following:
Regular Cheese Hamburger Helper
Roasted potatoes with onion, green pepper, and corn
and Bush's Baked beans
but for a little more nutrition I topped it off with a Salad

What a great way to spend Monday evening with the Fam

Finding Time

I am a Father of a one year old girl who works full time, goes to school full time and works freelance sports production. I struggle to find time to for my family as well as everything else that I am involved in. Here are a few things that I utilize to find the time that I need.
1. Utilize and Love iCalendar (or any other calendar that you might have)

  • Sinc all your devices with your calendars

2. Plan ahead....way ahead
The more on top of work and school schedules as well as family plans and holiday plans the better
It's better to be a month ahead rather than a week ahead
3. Make time
All your time should be prioritized so that you still have time for the important things, like family and your wife
4. Be there when you are there
It does you no good to not be a part of the home when you are home, be available for your wife and your kids

These are just a few things that have really helped me to find time for it all.

Playing Family Games

We as a family are big on family board and card games. One of our newest game crazes is the Game of Killer Bunnies.
If you have not yet seen or played this game, You need to look it up. It is fast paced with many different playable cards that through humor and entertainment with every turn. This game has become a sunday night tradition.
Here is a link to the Killer bunnies game web site. I highly recommend this game if you are willing to put forth the time to learn it. It does take time, but it is worth it.

Taking time to shop

Today while the wife was out watching the latests installment of midnight vampires and ware wolfs (aka twilight). I had the opportunity to take my daughter shopping with me before having to go to work. I enjoy the moments where I get to see her learn so much. Today she found the lower bar of the shopping cart and pushed the cart every where. Never a dull moment even in a very busy grocery store.
